15

Fifteen years ago today, I stopped using crystal meth.

I don’t share that for applause.

Fifteen years is just a date on a calendar unless it can somehow mean something to somebody who hasn’t made it to fifteen days, hours, or minutes.

I remember the man I was on my worst days.

I remember believing some things were too broken to repair, some bridges too burned to rebuild, and some consequences too great to overcome.

I was wrong.

Recovery didn’t give me my old life back. Thank God. It gave me the opportunity to build another one.

So today isn’t really about how far I’ve come. It’s about the one who is reading this wondering if they can make it to where I am from where they are.

You don’t know it yet, but you make it.

One day. One decision. Sometimes one minute at a time.

Keep going.
